This wonderful dog we have named Domino. A Great Dane about 4 years old. We had a phone call from the local dog pound to ask if we could take him so at the moment he is in our care. He is very emaciated, has sores and some small growth's on his tummy. His back legs are rather wobbly at the moment. In spite of all this he is a very friendly dog and seems to have a fantastic nature. How a dog could be abandoned in this condition it is very difficult to understand. More news on Domino to follow. Update July 2010Domino has now been transferred to Great Dane Rescue who kindly agreed to take him. They are very experienced with the breed and will nurse Domino back to full health, he will be able to find a new caring home. Latest news is that he has settled in a foster home and is doing well. Another Update July 2010Domino has been transferred to the Great Dane Rescue where he is receiving wonderful help with both his physical and mental problems. He is now called Rigsby and already showing much promise as you can see by the new pictures of him with his new friends. It is going to be a while before Rigsby can go to a forever home but in the mean time we are so happy to see him now. |
Maggie (previously called Minnie) |

The first of three dogs which were all taken to the local dog pound over Christmas 2009 and which we took in to our care. We think they show the reason we need to fund raise and ask for help because people can abandon dogs in such appalling conditions. We named this little collie cross Minnie because we thought of Minnie mouse, she is so sweet. Minnie is an elderly girl with her coat in a terrible condition, during her vet check it was decided to admit her for a few days as she needed to be sedated to shave her fur off and also for a dental to clean her teeth. Her skin is infected and the vet,s opinion is that this was caused by hot fat burns. This little dog must have been in such pain. Minnie is to stay admitted to the vets for a few days whilst lotions and dressings are changed often so that she can have pain relief whilst this is done. Minnie is now in her foster home. The burns area is slowly healing but Minnie has to have dressings sewn in to the skin, these need to be changed every three days so Minnie needs to be asleep whilst this is done. This is costly but wonderful Minnie can be helped.Watch for her progress. Update May 2010Minnie is now called Maggie and will stay with wonderful foster mum Jane for the rest of her life. What a change from the poor neglected little dog we rescued from the pound, so badly injured and in so much pain. Now Maggie lives with her other friends and is a happy joyful girl. |
