Working to save stray dogs in the North East

Desperate Dog Appeals

Misty

Photo of Misty

One evening very late a ragged bundle of fur was seen in a shop door way, the concerned couple went to investigate and found a frightened little dog whose coat was so matted and long she could not walk. This is how Misty the Springer Spaniel came in to our care.

Margaret collected her and the first visit was to the groomer who had to shave off her coat, from this a very different little dog emerged. A visit to the vet showed Misty had serious health problems, an urgent hysterectomy was needed and also mammary tumors to be stripped, two major operations. Following these Misty went home with Margaret and needed constant care. A traumatized girl who needed much love and patience, time has been the healer. After the ordeal and suffering Margaret thought the little dog should stay with her and her gang rather than to be rehomed and start again.

Amazing little girl now enjoys running on the beach and swimming, she is now happy and comfortable with her mum and friends.

Misty is an example of the desperate dogs we take in which is why we need extra help with paying the costs of caring for them. We would never turn one of these dogs away, and they give you so much in return.

Thank you for caring.

Mia (previously named Mary)

Named Mary by the vets this young greyhound/saluki puppy was left by the side of the road to die. Luckily she was found and taken to the vets who contacted Pat Smith, Pat then arranged for her to come in to our care.

Shewas very ill and near to death, she has responded to treatment and is still receiving medical care but sadly we do not know whether there will be any damage to her organs in the future.

Sadly Mary is very malnourished and can have received no love or kindness, we worry about the mother and any siblings but who would do such an awful thing?

Mary is now in the care of a foster mum who is giving this little girl all the tender loving care she needs and we can only hope she will make a full recovery, she gives little cries when her foster mum leaves the room, she will soon settle when she knows she is secure. Ann we cannot thank you enough for looking after her.

Update

Mary has now been named Mia by her foster carer Ann. This will become Mia,s permanent home as Ann is going to adopt her.

The first of the two photo shows a very different little puppy to the one who was so close to death. Medication has now finished and Mia is awaiting her second vaccination so she can start to go out for walks and learn about the world outside.

A very happy story to the one it could have so easily been.

Thank you to the vets at Stokesley, to Pat, Carol and Ann .

Without donations and help Save our Strays could not continue to pay for all the bills so please continue to help if you can.
